EXCERPT

He leaned across the desk. "You know, we haven't discussed the kiss the other night."

She scooted the chair back. "There's nothing to discuss."

He stood and slowly came around the desk, reached for her hand and pulled her to her feet. "I want to kiss you again."

"That's probably not a good idea." Oh, lord. She was playing with fire and if she wasn't careful, she was going to get burned. Bad.

"Probably not. I know you said we'd never kiss again. But don't you want to kiss me? Can't you feel the pull between us?"

"Yes . . . No!" She jerked her hand free and started backing away.

He followed, closing in on her until she bumped against the library table. "Just one kiss, Beth. One kiss can't hurt."

Before she could react, before she could reply, Trevor wrapped his arms around her, covered her mouth with his and God help her, she was a goner.

Trevor hated his grandfather Hank after his parents are gone. That's why he left town to seek his fortune. Now that old man Hank is dead, he's back for one reason only: settle his affairs and sell the ranch... and get the hell away from this place. However, his way was the quiet librarian Beth and her son. Beth drives the local bookmobile, and Hank promised her a million dollars for a local library AND his entire book collection (which is extensive) with one stipulation... Don't let his grandson sell the ranch. Beth felt an attraction toward Trevor, but she will not act on it because she has a daily reminder of what sort of consequences lust has... her son. Can the two work out a mutually beneficial solution?

Didn't feel the connection here much. Beth's attraction toward Trevor was unexplained, and the reverse wasn't even enemies to lovers. Overall, the relationship is just weird.

Her Reluctant Rancher Return to Stone Creek Book 1 edition by Anne Marie Novark Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I loved everything about this story. It wasn't hurried in anyway. It's a slow building sweet romance that's very believable. Not like some I've read in the past, where the couples meet one day, and two days later their professing their deep love for one another.

Little Maggie stole my heart in this book. I like stories where kids are involved, especially one so curious and sweet like Maggie is. Boy she sure put her own mother and Trevor in a few uncomfortable spots along the way. And while Hank might have not treated Trevor the best while raising him, I think Leo and Bonita made up for it in there own special way. I could feel the love and respect he had for both of them.

I can also understand why Beth was so cautious. She was burned one really badly, but she also couldn't completely resent it, because she wouldn't have Maggie if she had taken a different path.

But right now she has a big delemma on her hands. Should she keep her promise to Hank and maybe end up losing her relationship with Trevor? Or should she break her promise to Hank and come clean with Trevor before the will is read?

Would I recommend this book? Yes, most definitely!
Mags grabbed me right from the first page. I know the story is about her mom, Beth, and Trevor, but the inclusion of Mags made this a flat out great read. I feel bad since it was a free book. Someone who does such a good job penning such a good book deserves to be compensated for their writing. I will have to look through the books she has written and buy one after this book I am looking forward to another book by her.
Some reviewers indicate that the plot is predictable, and it may be, but it does not diminish the quality of the story. The best part of this book is the easy dialog and precious exchanges between Trevor and Mags. The highlight of the book is when Trevor come to accept that he loves Mags and Beth. The dialog and character engagements that make this story wonderful.

Enjoy it!
The plot is stupid and predicable. That said, I still enjoyed it despite the flaws. Great literature it is not. But, if you just want an afternoon to escape, relax and read, you might like it. I did.
When one holds a grudge for nearly a lifetime, one can forget quite quickly how to forgive, the love with so much festering inside.

When Trevor Callahan came back to the Rocking C ranch, he had it in his mind to get in, get out and be done with the remnants of his past. There for only a few weeks, to settle his grandfather's estate, Trev never anticipated that the feisty little woman and her five-year-old daughter would do more than to surprise him by living on the premises.

No matter how he tries to resist, Beth and her child, Maggie, both manage to worm their way into his cold heart, warming it as it slowly begins to thaw. The bond between Maggie and Trev is amazing and the instant attraction between him and Beth becomes undeniable almost from the get-go.

"Her Reluctant Rancher" is a wonderful read filled with sweet and subtle heated moments. I truly fell in love with these characters, much like I've fallen in love with all of Novak's characters in the past. I look forward to reading more within this series.
Trevor has come back to his grandfather's ranch for the reading of the will. He never liked his grandfather, who had taken him in when he was ten and his parents died. Trevor had left as soon as he graduated from high school. He made something of himself and now owned and run a huge construction company that built resorts all over the world. Now all he wants to do is sell the ranch and never think about Hank again.

When he arrives, he find a cute and precious five year old and her sexy cute mommy. Wanting to know why they are there, in the house, he finds out that the housekeeper had to leave for a few days and they were house sitting while cute mommy went through Hanks library. He had given them to her for the library she is raising money to build.

Beth and her daughter don't understand why he wants to
Sell the ranch and won't talk about Hank. Hank had been good to them and they thought the rift had been Trevors fault.

A very good story about learning to trust and let yourself love and be lived. I enjoyed it a lot.
I liked this book well enough. I finished it. But I was is a constant state of embarrassment for the author. I know we need a plot twist, but this promise given to the dead man is too much for me. It's never explained. Why did the grandfather extract this promise? We don't know, yet our heroine keeps the promise even asked she knows her love is about to discover the truth. I don't blame him for being angry. Further the plot machinations with the child are just too contrived.
